‘One Tree Hill’ cast dating history through the years

In the words of the great Peyton Sawyer, sometimes you just need one – but it can take a while to get there.

Characters included One Tree Hill were in countless love triangles, went on romantic excursions and even got married in high school. In real life, things weren’t always so magical.

Although some of the stars of the 2003 drama chose to walk away from the series, others found love on set. When the series first debuted on The WB (later airing on The CW), Sophia Bush started dating a partner Chad Michael Murray. On the screen, their characters, Brooke Davis and Lucas Scott, entered into a relationship.

The story of Cinderella star proposed in 2004, and they married a year later in April 2005. The duo separated five months after their wedding and finalized their divorce in 2006. Despite a messy breakup behind the scenes, they continued to work together until his departure in 2009.

“We were two dumb kids who shouldn’t have been in a relationship at all,” she said in an interview with Bravo in 2014. “To all the other partners who worked it out, more power to you.”

Other stars of the drama found love elsewhere. Danneel Harrisfor example, started dating Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles 2006. Shortly thereafter, Harris presented Hilarie Burton Morgan to one of Ackles’ colleagues, Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

“I happened to be single and Jensen said, ‘I’ve got a girl you need to meet,'” Morgan said in 2015. “So I went to a bar and met Hilarie at the bar with Jensen and Danneel, and the rest is history.”

In her book Rural diaries, Burton revealed that three days after their meeting, he drove her from Wilmington to New Mexico, where he was filming a movie. “Jeffrey and I are not cut out for dating. He was the man I wanted to grow old with and get bored with. Instead of late nights at clubs or hanging out and having dinner, we’d settle in and watch an episode at night Lonesome Dove. We decided that when we had a kid, we’d name him Gus after Robert DuVall,” she wrote in a 2020 memoir. “As the credits rolled, Jeffrey turned to me and asked, ‘Do you just want to do this? Do you want to try and have a family?’ We knew each other for less than a month.”
