WACO, TX (KWTX) – The second-grade elementary school student gave back to his favorite lunch lady, who gives him a snack every day after school, and gave her a cupcake through the cafeteria line on her birthday.
Tommy Arnold turned 8 and brought cupcakes to celebrate his after-school program at Whitney ISD, called ACE, but there was one special delivery he gave to his favorite cafeteria worker.
Judy Bailey is the director of food services for Whitney ISD and serves Tommy a snack and drink every day with a smile.
Tommy crossed the line and instead of eating, he was holding a cupcake for Mrs. Arnold.
Judy said that in her more than three decades of serving food to others, she has never turned a table.
“Little Tom came up to me and gave me chocolate cupcakes, which is my favorite, and said he wanted to give me something because I serve him every day,” Judy said. “It just touched my heart. In the 32 years I’ve been in food service, I’ve never had a child do this, and it just warms my heart.”
Amber Seeley is the principal at Whitney Elementary School. He said he wasn’t surprised when he heard about Tommy’s good work.
“It’s no surprise to me from Tommy,” Seeley said. “He is an excellent student. A very kind and compassionate young man. I am so proud to have her as one of our Whitney Wildcats.”
Tommy’s mother was also touched by her son’s kindness and said that Tommy always put others first, even if it was a day for his own holiday.
“It made me very excited and very proud to have such a well-mannered child to share and do good things in this world,” she said.
