A man accused of sending harmful media to a minor girl and fleeing the country is now in custody

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma Police Department (YPD) says they have arrested a man accused of sending harmful media to a minor girl after the two fled to Mexico.

YPD said a complaint about malicious media was sent on April 21.

During the investigation, Yuma police said the juvenile girl left the residence and believed she was with the man.

According to YPD, they learned that both the male and the juvenile female had fled the country to Mexico.

Then an order was issued for the arrest of this man.

YPD and the Yuma District US Marshals Service were able to locate the man in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico and he was arrested on Thursday, May 25th.

The minor girl was also found and they were both deported from Mexico.

The juvenile girl was safely returned to family members, YPD said.

The 31-year-old man was booked into the Yuma County Detention Center on multiple felony charges, including sexual exploitation of a minor.

He is currently being held on $100,000 bond.
