A Copperas Cove man is accused of using the Internet to groom a minor

COPPERASS COVE, TX (KWTX) – Copperas Cove is charged with online solicitation of a minor, according to an arrest affidavit.

Kevin Anthony Gibson, 68, is accused of texting a minor with a nude photo of a woman and also asking the 15-year-old victim for nude photos of himself.

Gibson then offered the victim $100 after sending the photo.

According to the affidavit, Gibson and the victim met at minor league baseball and softball fields and attempted to recruit the victim as an umpire.

In addition to asking for nude images, Gibson allegedly offered to buy the victim tablets and phones that she could use to communicate with him.

Gibson urged the girl to keep the device a secret from her parents, the documents say.

In addition to the charges of online solicitation of a minor and display and distribution of harmful material to a minor in McLennan County, Gibson is also charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals and assault on a public servant in Corell County.

Gibson remains in the McLennan County Jail with bond set at $134,000.
