The Chair has scheduled a meeting to reappoint Justin Pearson

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Michael Lowery, chairman of the Shelby County Board of Commissioners, called for the reappointment of Justin Pearson and hopes the meeting will take place.

The Shelby County commissioners will decide if they want to reassign him — at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

However, he is concerned that his former teammates may seek revenge against Memphis if this decision is made.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding are at stake for projects across Bluff City, including renovations at the FedEx Forum.

four of the 13 commissioners we asked say they are open to reappointing Pearson.

These are Britney Thornton, Charlie Caswell, Mikell Lowry, Erica Sugarmon.

Lowry released a statement on Sunday about the current political and social unrest over the firing of Justin Pearson and Justin Jones.
