MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – The Meridian City Council held a business meeting Tuesday morning.
Many topics were discussed and brought to the council at the meeting, including a new housing development, the position of the city’s Animal Control Officer and the renaming of a street in honor of slain police officer Kennis Croom.
These projects are still being developed and evaluated by the council.
Also during the meeting, Matt Shanrock, Main Street Director with the East Mississippi Business Development Corporation talked about some new downtown lighting options.
The East Mississippi Business Development Corporation said the light rail project will cost about $22,000 and sponsorships will fund the project.
Sponsors will be recognized by their name on their donation plaque downtown.
