Lauderdale School District students are learning to dress for success

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – Lauderdale and Dillard County School Districts partnered this morning to teach students a skill they’ll need to transition into adulthood.

Knowing how to dress for the job you want is a very important consideration when looking for a career.

Today, several students had the opportunity to speak with a personal stylist at Dillard’s and each found an outfit they could wear to a job interview, as well as learn valuable tips for the future.

“I feel like it’s important because if you don’t know how to do it and you get to adulthood and something important comes to you and you don’t know how to do it, like how you do,” Clarkdale freshman Tommy Saylor said.

“I think you will teach me how to dress better for a professional job. I want to be a social worker when I grow up. So when you are as a social worker. This means presenting and dressing more professionally. I feel it makes you look more mature and helps people approach you better.

Students have learned that there are many options for professional attire such as suits, skirts, shirts, and different types of blouses that they can wear and still remain business professional.
