FRANKLIN CO., Ala. (WAFF) – A Belgreen High School driver’s education teacher was arrested Wednesday and charged with reckless endangerment and public intoxication after a search for drugs with K9 units.
During the search, a K9 sniffed out Rodney Waddle Field, who pulled into the school parking lot in a Franklin Department of Education vehicle. A K9 on the desk alerted Waddle in the classroom where he was teaching (no illegal drugs were found on his desk).
After the class was alerted, a K9 alerted the FCBOE vehicle that Waddle had driven into the Belgreen School parking lot inside the vehicle and in his personal vehicle.
Waddle was removed from the classroom by deputies and school staff and consented to a search of his vehicle. Deputies noticed that Waddle was under the influence of a prescribed substance.
After field sobriety tests, Waddle was placed under arrest for public intoxication and charged with two counts of reckless endangerment for having two students in the FCBOE (Ed’s driver’s car).
A blood test was ordered, it will take weeks to get the results back.
