An elderly patient who was attacked at a Waco long-term care facility dies

WACO, TX (KWTX) – Tina Foster, 70, a patient at a Waco long-term care facility who was attacked March 16 when she entered another patient’s room, has died and the case has been referred to the district attorney for further review.

Waco police officers responded to the facility in the 2500 block of Maple Avenue on March 16 at 5:45 p.m., and learned that Foster had been assaulted during a disturbance involving another patient. The woman was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, police said.

At 8:15 p.m. Saturday, March 25, the police department’s Special Crimes Unit was called by a justice of the peace who pronounced Foster dead at the hospital.

Preliminary autopsy results indicated the cause of death was blunt force trauma and the manner of death was a homicide, police said.

The district attorney’s office is reviewing the case and will likely present it to a grand jury.

Police said the investigation into the “suspect’s mental capacity is ongoing.”

The name of the suspect has not been released.
