WACO, TX (KWTX) – A Central Texas man has been arrested after a fatal shooting Wednesday evening.
Tyler De’Shun Groudo Cheeks, 21, is charged with possession of marijuana, illegal transportation of a weapon and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The Beverly Hills Police Department received a report by dispatch at approximately 5:00 pm on April 12 that a 22-year-old victim had been shot in the 4100 Block of Memorial Drive.
Upon arrival, police found the victim with multiple facial injuries, which evidence indicated was a single gunshot wound with multiple bullet exit points. He was taken to hospital where he is now in stable condition.
According to police, the suspect left the scene and parked a few blocks away. He contacted law enforcement and informed us of his location.
Based on information currently available, it is reported that a child custody exchange occurred at a residence in the 4100 block of Memorial. An argument broke out between the suspect, who is the child’s father, and the victim, who is the boyfriend of the child’s mother.
During the argument, the suspect shot the victim in the face with a semi-automatic handgun. The child’s mother was present at the scene and is said to have pointed a firearm at the first victim after he shot her.
During Tyler’s arrest, police detected the odor of marijuana at the scene, searched the suspect’s vehicle, and found a usable amount of marijuana and a firearm believed to have been used in the attack.
This case is currently under investigation.
