The Nebraska State Patrol is accepting trooper applications

LINCOLN, Neb. (COLLEN) – Applications for this year’s Nebraska State Patrol troopers close on Monday, April 3rd.

This application period is open to anyone who wants to join the next NSP recruitment camp, which starts on July 5th and is scheduled to end on December 15th.

“As our current recruits pass through the NSP Training Academy mid-camp, we are preparing the next class to take on the mission of keeping Nebraska safe,” said Colonel John Bolduc, head of the Nebraska State Patrol. “A career as a trooper is full of opportunity, and we have positions in every corner of the state. There’s never been a better time to join our team and serve the people and visitors of Nebraska.”

NSP said their career paths include criminal investigator, K9 handler, SWAT team member, drone operator, pilot, crisis negotiator, training instructor, carrier control, bomb squad, Nebraska Highway Patrol and more.

According to NSP, Soldiers earn a starting salary of $30 an hour, which increases to $62,400 annually upon graduation from the NSP Training Academy, with a promotion structure throughout their career. The maximum salary for troopers is $45.54 an hour, $94,723 a year.

Requirements to become a Nebraska State Trooper include:

  • Must be a citizen of the United States
  • At least 21 years of age by December 15, 2023
  • Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
