The Harker Heights High School football coach has been recommended for the head coaching position in the North Texas School District

HARKER HEIGHTS, TX (KWTX) Harker Heights High School athletic coordinator and head football coach Jerry Edwards is joining the Grapvine and Colleyville Independent School District.

The district said in a released statement that “During that time, Edwards became the all-time winningest coach in school history with four consecutive playoff appearances. Additionally, he holds the single-season winning record with 12 victory in 2022, and the team will finish a successful year as a regional finalist.

Prior to his time at KISD, Edwards was the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Mansfield High School, and he spent time as an assistant varsity coach at Fort Bend Clements High School and Milan High School. He also trained in powerlifting and baseball.

“Coach Edwards has built a successful vertical program and brand throughout the school and within the community in all sports,” said GCISD Executive Director Todd Raymond. “He brings great passion and energy to the campus and community, and we look forward to his positive contributions to CHHS.”

Throughout his coaching career, Edwards has earned numerous honors, including the 2022 District 12-6A Coach of the Year. Harker Heights was also named the Texas Dave Campbell All-American Football Team for the 2022 season, while Edwards himself won the Dave Campbell All-American. 2019 Texas Football 6A Coach of the Week.

“I am excited to join a community known for its level of excellence both academically and athletically,” Edwards said. “It is a wonderful opportunity to return to the DFW area, both professionally and personally, and as a teacher, coach and father.”
