PIERRE, SD (Dakota News Now) – Parts of Interstate 90 and Interstate 29 will be closed Friday due to snow and rain conditions making travel difficult.
The following interstate closures are scheduled for Friday, March 31, 2023:
- Interstate 90 (eastbound) will be closed from Rapid City (Exit 67) to Chamberlain (Exit 265) and I-90 westbound from Chamberlain to Wall will be closed at 12 noon (CT)
- interstate 90 (Westbound ONLY) will remain open from Wall to Rapid City.
- Interstate 29 (northbound and southbound) from Watertown (exit 177) to the North Dakota state line is scheduled to close at 2 p.m. (CT).
Secondary routes:
No travel advisories are expected to be posted on secondary highways across South Dakota due to high winds, blowing snow and low visibility associated with this winter storm system.
Motorists should not use secondary roads to avoid interstate closures.
Significantly reduced visibility and snow-like conditions make travel very dangerous.
