It’s been a bit of a rough month for Pixels, with updates lagging behind across the board, but finally Google it’s getting back on track.
In fact, the have been released for a few hours security patches for series 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6 e Pixel 6aand a full-bodied update for Pixel Watch, including new features for DOAC, the dials and more: let’s go and discover them all!
March security patch for Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6a
The security patches of March for the series Pixel 6 have been waiting, but they are finally here and contain a series of fixes bug e vulnerability. The most important is certainly the aCropalypse patch, a dangerous bug that allows anyone to retrieve information from one screenshot acquired with a device Pixel and modified using the internal modification tool of Google phones (remember that the patch does not correct the images already shared, so keep in mind that if you have published Images of credit cards or passwords with this method are at risk).
However, here is the list of new features in the March update.
New features:
- Night Sightto take low-light photos faster even on Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, thanks to new algorithms based on Google Tensor
- Magic Eraserto remove subjects from photos
- Direct My Call (United States), to see the list of numbers to dial when calling a switchboard
- Health connection integrated into the system
- Timer on all Pixel devices from At a Glance on the lock screen, even with notifications when a timer ends

How to update
Your phone should notify you of the update, but if it doesn’t, you can check by going to the menu settings, clicking on System down and then up Updates. In case you want to manually, you can check our guides on how to install an OTA file or update via factory image.
March update for Pixel Watch
Even the update of March 2023 Of Pixel Watch it’s a couple of weeks late, but reading the news list was worth the wait.
After this update, identified with the version number RWDA.230114.008.R1 (RWDA.230114.008.J2 for watches in Japan and Taiwan), your watch will have the March 5, 2023 security patches. Let’s see the changelog, which includes new features for the AOD, watch faces and more, as well as drop detection which we had already reported with the Feature Drop.
- Dials
- Digital Clock is now available by pressing the button when the device is off. The time will now appear by pressing the crown, together with the red low battery indicator.
- Screen
- In addition to enabling AOD in watch or companion app settings, you can now activate AOD by turning the touch crown and the screen will wake up in AOD off and brighten the display in ambient mode.
- Touch
- Optimizations have been added to improve the sensitivity of touch screen behavior.
- Settings
- Support for enabling/disabling power saving with a single tap in QSS has been fully enabled in this release.
- Mono-audio limiting split-audio disorientation (Feature Drop)
- New color correction and grayscale modes that better optimize the display for a wider range of viewing preferences (Feature Drop)
- Alarms
- In the coming weeks, a fix will be rolled out via the Play Store to update the Clock app that fixes some alarms that had a delayed or false start.
- Make sure that automatic app update is selected in the Play Store settings on your watch and you will receive this update as soon as it is available while your watch is charging and connected to Wi-Fi.
- Fall detection
- Your Pixel Watch now features fall detection which can detect if you’ve suffered a bad fall and connect you to emergency services. Once connected to emergency services, your Pixel Watch will play an automatic message to request help wherever you are (Feature Drop)
How to update
To update your Pixel Watch, open the app Settingsscroll down to System at the bottom, and open System Updates.
Previously, you could force update on the “Your watch is up to date” screen, by continuing to tap the clock icon at the top with a checkmark in the middle, but now it doesn’t seems to work more. By carrying out the operation you will receive a message that warns you that the update is in progress distribution.
