Honky-tonk romance! Luke Combs he has an eternal admirer in his wife, Nicole Combs (née Hocking) — and it’s documented in the songs of country artists.

The “Beer Never Broke My Heart” singer and Nicole became friends through mutual acquaintances shortly after she moved to Nashville in 2014. Two years later, the relationship took a turn when the pair met at a songwriter’s festival in Florida.

“I had nothing going on when we met,” Luke recalled during a March 2020 appearance together on “A couple of things with Shawn Johnson and Andrew East” podcast. “I didn’t have a record deal or record deal or anything like that.”

Nicole, who worked for Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI) at the event, she remembers taking the first step.

“I was coming out of the songwriting circle, and he was late to it, and I was just like, ‘Hey, come hang out with us, why are you alone?'” the Florida Gulf Coast University alum explained.

Luke laughed as he detailed his “bad” choice of outfit for the occasion. “I was wearing camo gym shorts from Walmart … classy, ​​classy stuff,” he joked. “And probably the oldest shirt I’ve ever owned.”

The “She Got the Best of Me” singer’s ensemble, however, did not hinder their budding romance. In fact, a few months into their relationship, Luke revealed that he had previously written his hit song “Beautiful Crazy” about Nicole, which only strengthened their bond.

The Florida native has since been the inspiration for many of Luke’s songs, including “Better Together” and “Nothing Like You.”

Monitoring their weddings in August 2020The two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year winner once again paid tribute to his and Nicole’s love story by showcasing moments from their lives in his April 2021 music video for “Forever after everything.”

Less than a year later, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together. Their son Tex arrived in June 2022, just in time for Father’s Day.

“Me and @nicolejcombs are over the moon in love with this little guy. Mom and baby are healthy and now we’re back home with our family,” Luke wrote on Instagram at the time. “Life is good. Everyone welcome Tex Lawrence Combs to the world!”

Two months later, the new parents celebrated two years of marriage. “I can’t believe it’s been two years since I married this angel,” the “When It Rains It Pours” musician wrote via social networks August 2022 “@nicolejcombs you make every day of my life better than the last. I love you so much and I can’t wait for all the good times to come with you and our little family.”
