Lee Canyon saw record snowfall last winter, extending the ski season

Las Vegas, Nev. (FOX5) – Lee Canyon Resort is experiencing record snowfall this season.

Market Director Jim Seeley confirms that 256 inches of snow fell, breaking the old record set in 2005.

“We were at 255 inches that year,” Seeley said.

While that number surpassed the previous record, a winter storm heading into the resort could deliver another 10 inches of new powder by Wednesday evening.

In contrast, the resort received just 30 inches of snow last year.

2020-2021 was a better year with 66 inches falling.

Lee Canyon’s last triple-digit snowfall was in 2018-2019 with 175 inches.

All of this year’s snow has already caused the ski season to be extended until April 9.

Seely does not rule out another extension.

“We will definitely be reviewing this weekend and getting closer to our closing date. We will see how the conditions are and until the temperature rises significantly. We will see what we can do,” he added.
