YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – Kofa High School graduate Isaac Navarrete has opened his 3rd annual Clothing Grant fundraiser. This is to support high school students who cannot afford to buy their own prom dresses.
“We’ve had the support of the community for the last two years to keep going,” Navarrete said. “There is no reason why any student should not take his cap and coat. I’m really grateful to continue Grant A Gown because it’s my way of giving back when I’m away from home.”
Navarrete, a current student at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, came up with the idea for Grant Joy when a family member couldn’t afford a cap and gown for graduation.
To date, the Grant A Gown initiative has helped more than 100 students by 2021. Navarrate offers donation letters to local businesses to help students as much as possible. In addition, the average cost of a cap and bag is 30-50 dollars.
If students need a cap and gown, they can fill out the following form Here, and Grant A Gown on a first-come, first-served basis; the sooner they apply, the better.
If you would like to donate to Grant A Gown, you can contact Navarrete at [email protected]. They can also Facebook and Instagram.
