Kelly Walsh and Natrona face off in conference opener, Phillies shut out while Trojans win their second game

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – High school football is back for the season and the opening games were played across the state last weekend.

Conference action began today for both Casper teams as they both faced each other. Kelly Walsh took the short bus from town to Natrona for her first meet of the season.

The No. 5 ranked Phillies led the No. 5 Lady Trojans at halftime, but the second half was a much different story. As soon as it opened, the Phillies got going and before you could blink it was 2-0. Sage Gustafson had a pair of goals to help Natrona’s offense pick up steam as they continued their run. They continued to show their offensive dominance, eventually defeating Kelly Walsh 5-0 for their first conference win.

The boys game was a similar game, but the roles were reversed. Kelly Walsh’s #2 boys team got it going in the first five minutes of the game and they never looked back. With a pair of assists as well as a goal of his own, Parker O’Neill did very well in this competitive game. The Mustangs avoided the shutout, but they wouldn’t look back as the Trojans split the series with a 6-1 victory on the day.
