LOS ANGELES, CA (NBC, KYMA/KECY) – Picket lines formed this morning in Los Angeles as school workers began the third and final day of their strike against the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).
The striking workers, members of SEIU Local 99, are demanding a 30 percent pay increase, among other things.
The school district offered a 23 percent pay raise and cash bonus, but the offer was rejected.
It is not yet clear whether any additional negotiations have taken place during the strike, which began on Tuesday and was scheduled to last for three days.
All schools in the district, the second largest in the country, will be closed again today.
The members of the teachers’ union of the city joined the pickets as a sign of solidarity with the school workers.
