A Chesterfield man has been charged in connection with the barricade incident

A 47-year-old Chesterfield man has been charged in connection with Thursday’s altercation with police.

Brian Yalba was arraigned Friday on charges of felony assault with a dangerous weapon, resisting and obstructing a police officer, reckless use of a firearm and disturbing the peace.

The incident happened just after midnight Thursday at a mobile home park near Gratiot Avenue and 24 Mile Road. Officers came for a complaint about willful destruction of property.

Ealba is accused of getting out of the trailer and firing an AR-15 rifle once in front of officers, according to Chesterfield Township police. Police said the suspect locked himself inside his trailer. Officers and the Macomb County SWAT team surrounded the trailer.

According to the police, the suspect refused to obey orders to surrender and threatened the police with his gun. He got out of the trailer and shouted abuse at the police. The SWAT team took him into custody without further incident.

Ealba remained in the Macomb Jail on $3,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in court on April 3.
