Watson won the Rural Teacher of the Year award

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) – A teacher at Southeast High School in Lauderdale received high praise during a surprise presentation Tuesday.

Kenny Watson is a village teacher in the Third Congressional District. Now he is fighting to become a teacher in rural Mississippi.

Watson will teach law and public safety at Southeast in 2019.

This award was established in 2021 by the Research and Evaluation Program for Public Schools. It celebrates educators in schools and smaller communities who are passionate about teaching, learning and making a difference.
