The Washington Pavilion announces changes to the Kirby Science Discovery Center

SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – Big changes are coming to the Kirby Science Discovery Center thanks to the estate of Patricia Knutson.

In July 2022, the Washington Pavilion announced a gift of more than $1.2 million from the estate of Patricia Knutson to the Kirby Science Discovery Center.

Wednesday’s conference detailed how the donation will be used to renovate a specific space in the museum and create a new aquatic experience for young visitors.

Among the elements are whirlpools, clouds that drop rain onto the water table, fog mushrooms and other experimental features.

There will be an opening ceremony in June.
