WACO, TX (KWTX) – Testimony is scheduled to begin Tuesday in the trial of a Waco man accused of sexually assaulting a teenager at a Hewitt apartment while the assaults were filmed.
George Anthony Spratt, 58, is on trial in Waco’s 54th District Court on one count of aggravated human trafficking and four counts of distributing child pornography.
Prosecutors Tara Avants and Christy DeKluytt and defense attorney Lyle Gripp selected the jury Monday afternoon.
According to arrest documents filed in the case, the boy, who lived in Arkansas, visited Spratt’s compatriot Willie Ross Davis Jr. at his home in Hewitt in May 2020. The teenager, then 19, reported that Davis forced her to have sex with Spratt the first day they arrived at Davis’ home.
“The sexual abuse continued until (the boy) returned to his mother’s home in approximately June 2020,” the arrest affidavit states. “(The boy) stated that he felt a lot of pain afterwards. (The boy) told Willie Davis that he didn’t want to do that with George Spratt, but (the boy) stated that Willie Davis was forcing George Spratt to go to the bar. to have sex with him against his will.
Hewitt officers reported that they found video evidence of the assaults while executing a search warrant at Davis’ home.
According to court documents filed in Davis’ criminal case, Davis installed surveillance cameras throughout his home and also used his cell phone, computer camera and hidden clock-like cameras to film the sexual assault. His son and younger brother, who called Davis “Claw Paw,” reported that Davis told them not to report the abuse to anyone.
Davis, 62, pleaded guilty in May to two counts of human trafficking and four counts of distributing child pornography in exchange for 40 years in prison and four concurrent 20-year sentences.
Davis’ son reported that his father sexually assaulted the teenage boy in July 2020, according to arrest records. Hewitt officers contacted the juvenile, who reported that Davis had assaulted her multiple times since the summer of 2018 at Davis’ home in Hewitt, Texarkana, Ark., and Tyler.
The boy also reported that Davis molested his younger brother, who was 16 at the time, and that he forced the brothers to perform sexual acts on each other and on Davis while he filmed them.
Spratt, who has spent 579 days in jail pending trial, faces a minimum of 25 years in prison and up to life in prison if convicted of continuing human trafficking. He faces up to 20 years in prison on each of the four counts of distributing child pornography if convicted.
