Apple won’t be launching an updated version of its own anytime soon Mac Studio. The reason is simple: the company doesn’t want to cannibalize sales of the future Mac Pro, the next-generation desktop soon to be launched. In fact, according to Mark Gurman, the company is unlikely to release a Mac Studio with the M2 Ultra in the short term.
During his latest edition of “Power On”, the journalist reiterated the similarity of the future Mac Pro with Apple Silicon with the current Mac Studio (in terms of functionality). Apple could wait a year or two before marketing a new medium-high-end desktop.
Furthermore, if you are looking for a premium product at a low cost, our advice is to buy the Mac mini with M2 Pro a 1579,00€ su Amazon.
Mac Studio Updated: Here’s What We Know
Here are Gurman’s words on the matter:
I wouldn’t anticipate the introduction of a Mac Studio in the foreseeable future. The upcoming Mac Pro is very similar in functionality to Mac Studio and adds the M2 Ultra chip instead of the M1 Ultra. So it wouldn’t make sense for Apple to offer an M2 Ultra Mac Studio and an M2 Ultra Mac Pro at the same time. It’s more likely that Apple will never update the Mac Studio or stick with it until the M3 or M4 generation. At that point, the company may be able to better differentiate the Mac Studio from the Mac Pro.
Among other things, there has been very little talk of an upgrade for the Mac Studio. Gurman’s observations go precisely in this direction; a new desktop work machine is unlikely to arrive anytime soon.
Ergo, let’s do the recap for a moment: a Mac with M2 Ultra will be twice as powerful as a Mac with M2 Max and this could be the basic model of the Pro series. Unfortunately, we expect not exactly low prices, but you know, the power of pay, especially on the professional side.
