The ND House voted down a bill that would eliminate the “pink tax.”

BISMARCK, ND (KFYR) – Women continue to pay sales tax on feminine hygiene products. The state House of Representatives rejected a bill that would have changed that.

House Bill 1282 would have exempted products such as tampons and sanitary napkins from sales tax.

“While the committee appreciated the informative testimony from the sponsor and supporters of the legislation, it reached a recommendation of “No,”” said Rep. Jared Hagert, R-Emerado.

The bill failed by a vote of 33-56 without debate.
