The Coast Guard is mourning the loss of K9 Officer Czar

OVERLAND, Mo. (KMOV) – Surface Police K9 Czar was euthanized after efforts to treat his chronic pancreas problems failed.

Czar retired after seven years in the service, the police department said. According to the department, Tzar had chronic pancreatic problems and the treatment was not successful.

“His condition eventually progressed to a condition that interfered with Tsar’s quality of life. Tsar was humanely euthanized in a private setting while in the company of his handler, Cpl. Chris Fanning,” The department tweeted Monday morning.

The department announced the end of the Tzar hour on February 10, 2023.
