Monae Johnson adds two to the Secretary of State’s office

PIERRE, SD – South Dakota Secretary of State Monae Johnson hired two new staff members during the legislative session.

Johnson approved the additions of Reggie Rhoden and Adam Miller to the office. Rhoden will be the office’s election coordinator and handgun permit administrator, and Miller will serve as America’s Voting Act (HAVA)/National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) Coordinator.

According to LinkedIn, Miller previously served in the South Dakota State Legislature and the United States Senate. He graduated from Black Hills State University in 2021 with a degree in History/Political Science.

Roden previously worked for the Department of Labor and Government Regulation (DLR). According to LinkedIn, he most recently served as a regional data security consultant for Northpoint.

Roden worked with Noem’s 2022 election campaign. He is the son of Lt. Governor Larry Roden.

“I’ve known her since 2010, when I was president of the Mid County Republican Women, and she helped me with my campaign this summer,” Johnson said in an email to Dakota News Now/Territory KOTA. “He was the best qualified person for this position and was excited to join this office.”

The Secretary of State’s office underwent a number of changes after Johnson took office in December of this year. Johnson plans to hold a summer training on election integrity next summer.
