Memphis civil rights legend Georgia King has died

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Memphis civil rights activist Georgia King has died. The progress of Memphis took place on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.

Known in the community as “King Mom,” King leaves a legacy of helping others.

Beginning her career in activism in her early twenties, she became a spokesperson for the homeless in the Memphis community. He made it his personal mission to feed and care for the poor. “I plant seeds” she stated. “And take my courage and guidance from God.”

King also founded the Memphis Bus Riders Union in 2012 to ensure fair treatment for riders of all colors and creeds.

King was honored with the 2018 MLK 50 Award for Leadership and Activism.
