KYMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – Roosevelt and Mary A. The Otondos received a donation of more than 100 books from the Yuma Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) chapters.
The press release states that students can access more than 100 books in their classroom libraries.
At the PEO Founders Day Luncheon, members donated new or gently used books for the elementary reading level, according to Yuma School District One.
PEO also awarded both schools with Scholastics gift cards for more reading materials for students.
District One Library Coordinator Amanda Coltman delivered the books to both schools on Thursday, Feb. 2, and the students were excited about the new books.
“It’s wonderful when members of our community and local organizations give back to our schools. When our students receive new books, it sends a strong message about the importance and enjoyment of reading,” Coltman said.
