KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) – A second suspect has been charged in the 2020 killing of Jonathon Allen Hampton, 24, by the Killeen Police Department.
Ahmad Ilyas Jamel Dempsey, 21, is charged with murder and is being held in the Bell County Jail on $1 million bond.
The United States Marshals Office – Fugitive Task Force and Killeen Police Department K9 officers were able to locate and apprehend Demps, police said.
The first suspect, Antonio Trevon Edwards Hodges, 21, also faces a charge of murder and is being held on $1 million bond until Feb. 7 in the Bell County Jail.
Officers found Hampton with a gunshot wound to the head when they responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of Fairview Drive around 2:20 a.m. on September 16, 2020.
Justice of the Peace Theodore Duffield pronounced Hampton dead at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
At the time of the murder, authorities were asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest who had access to a white Volvo S60.
An autopsy was performed at the Southwest Forensic Institute in Dallas.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released at this time.
