MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – The Choctaw Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America announced Wednesday that Scoutmaster Ken Kercheval is leaving for a new position. She will be the new Scout Executive/Director of the Andrew Jackson Council in Jackson, Miss. Kercheval has served on the Choctaw Regional Council for 15 years.
Under his leadership, the local scout camp was updated and improved, the Binachi shooting range at Lamp Binachi was added and stock giving increased by 253% through the launch of the Eagle Club recognition breakfast, the council said.
The board said a search committee will be formed to find the next executive scout/CEO within the next few months. The Choctaw Regional Council serves Lauderdale, Clark, Newton, Neshoba, Kemper and Choctaw counties.
Kercheval’s last day will be Feb. 16, the same day as the Eagle Club’s 15th annual recognition breakfast, at MSU Meridian’s Kalmus Auditorium.
