SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – Tickets for March’s “Garrison Keillor at 80” show at the Sioux Falls Orpheum Theater go on sale Friday.
Keillor will be joined by Heather Masse and Richard Dworski in a cheer-themed performance of music, stories and a booth.
Featuring Keillor’s singing sonnets (“Prayer”, “Longevity”, “Love Song”) and duets with Heather Masse on songs by Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Tom Waits, Greg Brown, Mark Knopfler and Anne Reid, as well as an extensive tune in includes He sang classical and funny poems.
Keillor also publishes the Lake Wobegon News and reflects on his own generation — the generation that knew about houses, killed chickens, hitchhiked, drove straight delivery, skated on outdoor rinks and told jokes.
The program ends with the a cappella singing of an absurd melody of familiar songs – “America”, “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”, “Oh Suzanne”, “In My Life”, “Going to Church” and others.
“We’re the last generation that knows all the words,” Keillor said. “When we’re gone, they disappear.”
