FIRST DAY SNOW WARNING IN EFFECT Thursday from 6am to 3pm

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) — A FIRST DAY WARNING is in effect on Thursday, February 9th from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for accumulating snow. The heaviest snow is expected to fall in the northwest of the Quad Cities.

Snow will likely accumulate from southeastern Iowa to northwestern Illinois.(KWQC)

Our next weather maker is set to bring rain across much of the region Wednesday night, but it will turn into a wintry mix and then snow overnight into Thursday, mostly for areas northwest of the southeastern Iowa line through southeastern Iowa. to cause concern. As the weather gradually cools, snow will change from 6 am to 9 am on Thursday. It will be hard wet snow that accumulates on grassy surfaces. Ultimately though this can add up on the roads to make for a smooth ride in the afternoon. Tuesday will also be windy with gusts above 30 mph, but with the wet nature of the blowing snow and drifting not a concern.

Accumulations forecast from this morning are strong, additional snow will reduce indicators, but total 1″-4″ in QC, with more 4″-6 NW QC to almost nothing SE of QC.
