Early warning forecast: Strong winds are expected to increase on Wednesday

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Fair trade winds will become strong and gusty on Wednesday and then continue through the weekend.

Clouds and showers in windy areas and occasional short showers in leeward areas.

Moisture will move over Maui and the Big Island and continue into Tuesday, producing mostly windy rain. Heavy rain is also likely in Kauai and Oahu.

The island’s atmosphere remains relatively stable, so precipitation is not expected.

Surf along north and west facing beaches will pick up today and peak on Wednesday.

A northerly swell (340-350 degrees) is expected to arrive on Thursday and surf buildings will face high surf levels for the north and west coasts as it peaks into the evening.

Rough sea conditions can be expected along the eastern coast in response to the strong trade and storm force near and upstream of the area.
