Chiefs fan of the year gets the NFL treatment

PHOENIX, Ariz. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) – It’s been an exciting week and Dr. Amy Patel is soaking it all in.

“It’s incredible to be in the presence of the greats and legends of the NFL and just those who love the game as much as I do,” Patel said.

But before he came to Phoenix, Patel traveled to Ada, Ohio; home of another soccer icon, Wilson Soccer Factory.

He tied it with Eagles Fan of the Year, Matthew Auerbach, for a super goal.

“I was very honored to be able to be a part of this process and I got to make some Wilson footballs, which makes it even more special,” Patel said.

The NFL Experience also includes an iconic brand that has been a part of professional football for over 80 years.

“We love that history. We love making the balls by hand. The craftsmanship, the passion and the pride that our people take in making those game balls and watching them on Sundays is great,” said the Wilson employee.

Patel is enjoying this wild ride to the Super Bowl and the countdown to the big game.

“Everyone is very excited. We want the Chiefs to get there,” Patel said afterward.
