Big Bear helps disabled people learn to ski

SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – Big Bear Ski Valley, along with the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System, is hosting a special event this weekend to help people with disabilities learn to ski using adaptive equipment.

The program strives to positively improve the lives of the people they serve by promoting health, independence and well-being.

Lead Volunteer Instructor Curt Homan expressed his excitement for the event.

“They can talk about it for weeks and months and it’s even something to look forward to next year. I enjoy creating good memories for people, especially people with disabilities, because it can really be the highlight of their year in some cases and become their lives,” Hohman said.

The event ends on Sunday and registration can be found on the site Great Bear website.
