Hilaria Baldwin addresses Alec Baldwin’s ‘Rust’ manslaughter accusations

Hilaria Baldwin speaking after the news reported it Alec Baldwin will be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter by death Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

“It’s been an emotional time for my family and I want to express to you how grateful I am for your support and your kindness and your understanding,” the 39-year-old said during the Sunday, January 29 episode her podcast “Witches Anonymous”.. “Honestly, we would fall apart without it. So thank you so much for being our rock now because I don’t feel so strong.”

Hilaria continued the episode by talking to dr. Hillary Goldsher about “parenting through challenging times” and balancing self-care and raising children.

“Children are sponges and certain conversations are not always age-appropriate; we can’t deny that they don’t feel the energy and don’t take over certain things in the family”, said the fitness enthusiast and added that she wants for her little ones “everything to be sunshine and rainbows all the time”, but also that she hopes “to teach them to be resilient.”

The Massachusetts resident reminded her listeners that it’s important to see “the humanity in other people” and to have “an understanding that they might be going through something too” by “being kind, being patient and being good friends with as many people as possible.”

Hilaria i 30 Rock alum — who married in June 2012 — share daughters Carmen , 9, and Lucia , 22 months, and sons Rafael , 7, Leonardo , 6, Romeo , 4, and Eduardo , 2. Alec is also the father of a daughter Ireland Baldwin27, with his ex-wife Kim Basinger.

Hutchins was shot dead on set Rust in October 2021. Film director, Joel Souza, was also injured. In addition to Alec, the film’s armorer who was in charge of weapons on set, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, will face two counts of manslaughter. First Assistant Director, David Hallshe agreed to plead guilty to negligent use of a deadly weapon.

“After a thorough review of the evidence and the laws of the State of New Mexico, I have determined that there is sufficient evidence to file criminal charges against Alec Baldwin and other members Rust film crew,” New Mexico’s first judicial district attorney Carmack-Altwies it is stated in the announcement. “On my watch, no one is above the law and everyone deserves justice.

Alec has previously spoken about the tragic incident. The day after Hutchins’ death, the Emmy winner broke his silence via Twitter.

“There are no words to describe my shock and sadness at the tragic accident that took the life of Halyne Hutchins, a wife, mother and colleague of ours whom we hold in the highest esteem. I am fully cooperating with the police investigation to resolve how this tragedy occurred and am in contact with her husband, providing support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son and everyone who knew and loved Halyna,” he wrote at the time.

Hutchins – who is originally from Ukraine – shares son Andros, 10, with his wife Matt Hutchins. In February 2022, attorneys filed a wrongful-death lawsuit on behalf of Matt and Andros. An undisclosed settlement was reached that October.

“We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, in our wrongful death action against the manufacturer Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed,” Matt said in a statement at the time, adding that he had “no interest in engaging in accusations or assigning blame (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin).”

Alec claims he did not fire the gun that killed Hutchins.

“The trigger was not pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger,” he said during an interview with ABC News in December 2021. “I would never point a gun at anybody and pull the trigger on them. Never. I have no idea [how a bullet got in there]. Someone put a live bullet in the gun. A bullet that should not have been on the property.”

Gutierrez-Reed, for her part, said she had “no idea” how the live ammunition got into the weapon.

“Safety is Hannah’s number one priority on set,” the gunsmith attorneys Jason Bowles and Robert Gorencestated in the statement for Us Weekly in October 2021. “Ultimately, this set would never have been compromised if live ammunition had not been introduced. Hannah has no idea where the live rounds came from. Hannah and the prop master gained control of the weapons, and she had never witnessed anyone firing these weapons live, nor would she allow it. They are closed every evening and at lunchtime and there is no way that any of them were kept on record or shot by the crew. Hannah has never had an accidental discharge to this day.”
