BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (AP) — One person was shot Friday night during a shootout between a suspect and officers at a recreational vehicle resort in northwest Arizona, police said.
Bullhead City police said in a statement that a man in a trailer at Silver View RV Resort fired at officers, who returned fire, and one of the suspect’s bullets ricocheted off another trailer “and struck an innocent bystander.”
The victim was taken to a Las Vegas hospital about 95 miles north and is in “stable condition,” the statement said.
The suspect got out of the trailer and was taken into custody after a nearly eight-hour standoff. No officers were injured, police said.
Police have not released the suspect’s identity or what charges he may face.
Bullhead City is located near the states of Arizona, Nevada and California and has a population of approximately 41,000.
An outside agency, Lake Havasu City police, is investigating the incident for Bullhead City police, per the department’s protocol for situations where officers fire their weapons.
