Suspect charged with murder in shooting at Ewa Beach township complex

EWA BEACH (HawaiiNewsNow) – HPD on Saturday charged the suspect who shot a 57-year-old Ewa Beach manager Thursday.

Authorities said Patrick Tuputala, 34, faces charges of second-degree murder and a felony firearm charge.

His bail is set at $1 million.

Sheriffs were able to convince Tuputala to turn himself in, authorities said.

The shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Palm Villas townhouse complex on Puamaeole Street.

Witnesses said that they heard two men fighting before the sound of multiple gunshots.

Police said Tuputala allegedly shot the housing manager in one of the complex’s parking lots and fled the scene.

Investigators are still looking for the suspect vehicle, a 2013 silver Kia Rio with license plate number RWW 504.
