Two people were killed and one injured in a crash in Russellville Friday night

RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Two 22-year-old men were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Russellville Friday night.

Nicholas Perez, 22, and Ashley Sims, 22, were killed in a head-on collision around 10:30 p.m. in Franklin County, 48 miles east of Russellville, according to a spokesman for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

ALEA officials say Perez was driving a 2009 Nissan Sentra and was confronted by Sims, who was driving a 2013 Nissan Altima. Perez was seriously injured in the crash and taken to Russellville Hospital, where he later died.

Sims was pronounced dead at the scene.

A juvenile passenger was in Perez’s vehicle and was taken to Russellville Hospital for treatment.

No additional information is available at this time.

ALEA Highway Patrol Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
