The Dickinson Library Board is hearing from residents about a sex education book

DICKINSON, ND (KFYR) – The Dickinson Public Library Board is one step closer to making a decision about a book that some believe is pornographic.

Board members heard from residents for and against the sex education book. Let’s Talk About It: A Teen’s Guide to Sex, Relationships, and Being Human, on the library shelf.

The meeting was held Tuesday evening at City Hall to accommodate the number of people there.

Some residents talked about banning this book completely, while others believed that it should be in a limited area.

“Parents have a choice, if parents don’t do their job then the legal system will get involved, but schools and libraries, our taxpayer funded library shouldn’t be making that available to any child that’s being funded by the taxpayer. Get it brings,” said Thea Lee, Butte Sentinel.

“I think it’s a beautiful book, and I love that in the title it’s not just about sexual identity and sexual themes, but about being human, we’ve all had those feelings and questions,” Nikki Anderson said. Dickinson.

The board has indicated it will hold a special meeting to consider more public comment before making a decision on where the book belongs.
