Sean Cleary is expected to win the 35th Senate District seat

BISMARCK, ND (KFYR) – Republican Sean Cleary will win the state Senate seat in District 35, Bismarck’s central district, according to the Secretary of State’s website.

With all precincts reporting, Cleary won 60% of the vote, while Democratic incumbent Senator Tracy Potter won about 40%.

The seat has been held by Democrats for the past eight years, and Republicans saw the election as an opportunity to increase their large majority in the state Senate.

Cleary works for the Medora Foundation and is a former staffer for Senator John Hoven and Governor Doug Burgum.
