Sanford offers free pharmacogenomics testing to veterans

SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – Sanford Health is offering free pharmacogenomics testing to current and former military members.

According to a Sanford press release, the PGx test helps provide patients with information about how certain medications are being processed, which can help doctors make informed decisions about treatment and patient care plans.

“We aim to be the provider of choice for our current and former military members,” said Capt. Paul Weckman, Sanford’s director of military and veterans affairs. “They’ve done so much for us, it’s a privilege to be able to take care of our veterans.”

The PGx test is free for all veterans and active military patients receiving care at Sanford Primary Health Care.
