Man charged with capital murder in West Memphis murder

WEST MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A man has been formally charged in the shooting death of a 35-year-old man in West Memphis.

Investigators say 21-year-old Jamarius Rogers killed Samuel Lewis on North Macauley Drive Sunday night.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Lewis inside the home suffering from multiple injuries, according to the West Memphis Police Department.

Witnesses provided officers with a physical description of the suspect, who fled the scene on foot.

After the search, Rogers was placed in a nearby hotel and taken into custody for questioning.

He is accused of murder.
