LINCOLN, Neb. (COLLEN) – The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fraudulent case in which $56,000 was taken from a Fird woman’s bank account.
On Monday, deputies received a forged document from a 78-year-old woman.
According to Sheriff Terry Wagner, two women cashed checks totaling $56,000 from First State Bank in Hickman.
Sheriff Wagner explained that the checks were cashed on November 1 and 2 and one of the checks was found at a bank in Washington state.
Investigators said it is unclear how the suspects were able to do this, as the victim was in possession of both checks.
One cashed check was for $22,820 and the other was for $32,850, Sheriff Wagner said.
Anyone with information about the equipment is encouraged to call LSO at (402) 441-6500 or Crime Stoppers at (402) 475-3600.
