SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – We are seeing increasing cloud cover around the area today. The wind is starting to pick up a bit ahead of the storm system that will move through this week. Today, the wind is blowing in the direction of the north and west at a speed of 30 to 40 m/s. There is also a high fire risk in the southern parts of the region, therefore Red Flag Warning takes effect at noon.
This storm system will move into the area on Tuesday, bringing a chance of light rain. Highs Tuesday will be in the 50s, with some areas nearing 60. As this storm moves northeast and develops, we could get some thunderstorms in the eastern part of the region Wednesday through Thursday, and some snow in the west before it’s all over. Friday morning. Next to this system, we see very cold air settling into the region. Weekend highs will be in the 20s and 30s, with morning lows in the single digits and teens. Highs could drop back into the low 30s next week.
