HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Huntsville’s Major League Soccer (MLS) NEXT Pro team will hold an official name and brand unveiling ceremony on Wednesday.
MLS Next Pro, which will begin in 2022, is a professional men’s soccer league in the United States and Canada. It is affiliated with Major League Soccer.
In July, the organization announced it was working with the city of Huntsville to bring professional football closer to fans and supporters in North Alabama. Ian Ayre, president of the Huntsville NEXT Pro Team, says it will be good for the region.
“Football is a wonderful sport. In general, this is an incredible attraction for all kinds of things. I think, you know, we’ve already seen incredible interest in this team from the business community,” Ayer said.
“You know these games will be on Apple TV all over the world next year. So suddenly, football becomes Huntsville’s platform for a global audience. And I think that’s really exciting for the whole city,” he said.
Aire says Wednesday will be the first big chance for fireworks for football!
During the opening ceremony, the organization’s leaders will release the team’s name, brand, colors and merchandise. They also sell tickets, Ayre said.
According to Ayre, as they approach the start of their season in the coming months, they will announce the hiring of a coach and the appointment of players.
The event will be held at Mars Music Hall in Huntsville from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm The Huntsville NEXT Pro team will make Joe Davis their home after renovations are completed in May 2023.
