City of Waco urges water conservation to avoid stricter water restrictions

WACO, TX (KWTX) – The City of Waco is once again urging residents and property owners to conserve water to avoid severe watering restrictions during the ongoing drought.

The Waco area has seen some rain in recent days, but it’s not enough to mitigate the effects of Texas’ year-long drought, especially since Waco Lake gets its water from areas to our northwest.

The city is currently implementing a second phase of water restrictions that, among other things, restrict homeowners from watering twice a week. To avoid the third phase, which only allows watering once a week, the city said residents should do their part to save as much water as possible.

“The little things, you know, turning off the water where you brush your teeth, maybe not taking a fancy shower. Little things every day help,” said Jessica Emmett Sellers with the city of Waco.
