Apple has been designing a mixed reality headset for some timewhich is a device capable of combining virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). This is the Reality One projectand after much speculation we finally have a date.
According to recent news, iThe Reality One headset should finally go into production in March 2023. The launch date, however, is scheduled for April 2023. The main manufacturer of the device will be the Chinese company Pegatron.
As for the quantity of devices produced, this could be less than expected. In fact, it was initially expected that Apple would order around 2.5 million units. The real pieces, on the other hand, seem to be much less: in fact, 700,000 to 800,000 units are expected.
With such low quantities, Reality One is unlikely to make a big profit for Apple and its suppliers. However, the goal is not just short-term revenue. In fact, one of the aims of the project is to test the technology by also exploiting Apple’s brand recognitionin order to also be able to enter a favorable market position for future similar products.
