HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – One person was killed in an early morning fire at a building in the McCulley area Sunday morning, according to HFD.
Crews responded to a two-story fire just after 5 a.m. along Santa Street. About 40 HFD personnel from 10 units arrived to find the structure with heavy flames on the first floor and reaching the second.
Once they restored their water supply and began fighting the flames, HFD had the fire under control in about 40 minutes. It was completely extinguished just before 7 am
A victim was found dead by EMS during a search of the home. It was said that he is a 70-year-old man, but his identity has not yet been revealed.
Firefighters are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
